How I want the Conners to end

One morning Dan discovers the house has an Attic. He goes up there and realizes Andy and Jerry have been there this entire time waiting for him to help clean the Attic. (Roseanne asked them to years ago and they just forgot.

DJ and his family come back for some reason and on the way they make friends with some homeless looking dude who can't really talk. Anyway normal hi-jinks happens until A tornado comes and destories everything. Dan's house, Darlenes, if a character has a house and is in anyway related to the Conners (besides DJ) their home is gone.

few days later where everyone is at a hotel or shelter and this is the worst it has ever looked. everyone is trying to cheer everyone up but it's just making everyone mad and it's all falling apart big time. When it all seems like it's all going to just be destroyed, who other then David to show up. David tells them the "Homeless Man" is his boss and went in for some extreme dental work and was so f**Ked up with swelling and the drugs he wandered off and they lost him with all the tornado drama.

The man is able to speak a little bit and tells the Conner's that right outside of Landford He has built a large apartment building and it was one of the few things that wasn't damaged in the storm. and to thank the Conner's for helping him even when all of this was going on He offered them all apartments to live in.

Fast forward about a year and everyone is settled down in their apartments. Dan is head of maintenance for the building, The Lunchbox is now a restaurant on the grounds of the Apartments where Jackie, Harris (when not at school) and Becky work. But besides that everyone is living together in the same building, but still have their own spaces, All have roofs over their heads and for everything that happened it's a pretty happy ending.

so there. Im pretty sure I would be kicked out of the writers room but anyway.

So Dan never gets to retire? No thanks lol.

Imagine a world where Mark didn't die and he could be head of maintenance with Dan as the Old Mysterious Wise Man he turns to for occasional advice?

Really? Poor Dan. Let the poor man retire for God's sake. Not only did you get kicked out of the writer's room, you've been banned for life.

Could be a good thing. Like You help me with upkeep. You pay half rent

People are way too obsessed with Andy and Jerry. Let them go.

Right?? They were babies. Neither of them ever had a line on the show. They literally don’t matter at all.

u/Missue-35 avatar

They were just dream episodes that never aired.

They were babies who disappeared. People don't forget that kind of stuff.

Well they’re better off forgetting it cuz they ain’t coming back.

Unsolved mysteries.

They've been lost to the void.

They're human beings and we're concerned! 🤣🤣

Well, we were going to go with The Aristocrats, but your views are valid, too.

I want it where Roseanne comes back from her writing room, and places the journal on the table and sits on the couch, turns on the tv and watches. Be perfect.

As much as I loved the show growing up, I’m comfortable never seeing her again on TV.

I like the part about a tornado destroying the Connors home. Do they die?

How about a nuclear bomb hits their street? I like it.

u/extremely_apathetic avatar

Or like Season 9, it ends up being another book but written by Darlene this time.

u/PetatoParmer avatar

I hadn’t thought of this but now it’s extremely likely in my head.

Or …. Or … hear me out : it’s in Ben’s new magazine haha

I stopped reading after the first part.

Me too. Out there.

Yeah, no one wants “The Conners” to end on a ridiculous flight of fantasy. It should’ve learned from the disastrous collapse of “Roseanne’s” original run how not to close out a series.

u/Missue-35 avatar

I always thought that the winning the lottery scenario was lame.

u/ScrutinEye avatar

Not just winning the lottery (which was indeed lame) but Roseanne battling terrorists on the roof of a speeding train, Roseanne and Jackie meeting the AbFab women and discovering they’re vampires, and then the whole “Yeah, Dan died, Becky really married David and Darlene married Mark” stuff.

I don’t really want “The Conners” to end yet, but if it has to, I’d like it to end in the same tone it’s been successful with throughout. Ending it on a cartoon fantasy in-joke wouldn’t be that.

I’d love love if the last episode is a Halloween episode and someone’s prank goes wrong. Or i could really dream big and hope it’s a prank where Roseanne flings the door open and says “I’m bacccckkkk!!” Or, they could win the lottery and live happily ever after. lol

Or pull a " Dallas" and Dan wakes up to Roseanne in the shower.... it was all a dream...

lol. Yes

I have to say it was really good to see "the old Dan" last night on the plane: [smiling] "I like trouble. PICK UP THE PURSE."

Oh so like Good Times?

I want it to be Darlene rewriting he life story, trying to make sense of her mother falling down the Q hole. I posted a longer version a couple of months ago.

u/BoysenberryKind5599, I would love to read this! :)

I realized I posted it as a comment on the Roseanne sub. Here you go:

I was thinking a good ending for The Conners would be a reveal that Darlene was writing a story and she says something like, "Mom didn't really die, but it sure felt like it once she bought in to the Q nonsense" and then go on to other changes like "We lost Dad 20 years ago, but I so needed a parent in my life, I wrote him as if he were alive. I like to think Dad would have resisted the ideas Mom embraced" and maybe even give us happy endings for herself and Becky, "although Becky is the owner of the restaurant she and Mark started right before he died and I am famous writer, I wanted to imagine what my parents life was like, how they struggled, so I could figure out what happened with Mom". Lots of people have lost their parents because they changed like Roseanne, so it would really resonate and be a nice homage to the original.

I thought Dan going to the attic was a metaphor for death. Then I thought you were going to say they ALL died in the tornado and the apartment building is Hell

u/ShouRonbou avatar

Andy and Jerry are angels of death taking Dan and everyone with them

How about this:

Whatever the series finale is about, they wrap up the loose ends and all of the characters are sitting around the kitchen table eating and talking. Roseanne Conner's voiceover begins to monologue, explaining that the entire show was the product of her writings and that she didn't die of an opioid overdose. Furthermore that Andy and Jerry did and do, in fact, exist all along, AND that they have sold the Landford Lunchbox with enough to retire on. Roseanne Barr cameos in character as she and Dan ride off on Dan's motorcycle, Roseanne laughs her signature laugh as the screen fades to black.

The end. Half-kidding, but I wouldn't mind it.
