Natasha Lyonne joins Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four cast alongside Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby

Natasha Lyonne is joining the cast of Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated superhero film, Fantastic Four, in an undisclosed role. 

The project is expected to begin filming this summer in England ahead of its planned release date of July 25, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Pedro Pascal has been confirmed to be portraying scientist Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic while Vanessa Kirby will star as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. 

The cast also includes Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richards’ pal Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Ozarks' Julia Garner is reportedly taking on the role of Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer. 

Ralph Ineson will play The Fantastic Four’s primary antagonist, Galactus. 

Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich will also appear in the movie in unannounced roles. 

The Fantastic Four, which will be directed by Matt Shakman, 'centers around Marvel’s First Family.'

The first big-screen adaptation of Fantastic Four, released in 2005m starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis, grossed $154.6 million domestically and $333.5 million worldwide from a $100 million budget. 

The 2007 sequel saw a slight decline, earning $131.9 million domestically and $301.9 million worldwide with an increased budget of $130 million. 

However, the film was met with scathing reviews and reports of production turmoil, resulting in disappointing box office returns of $56.1 million domestically and $167.8 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $120 million. 

Lyonne is best known for her roles in Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, in which she played Nicky Nichols between 2013 to 2019, and Russian Doll, which she also co-created, executive produced, wrote, and directed.

The performer started as a child actress in the late 1990s with her roles as DJ in Everyone Says I Love You (1996). 

She proceeded to land roles in films like Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) and American Pie (1999). 

Last year, she earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Peacock's Poker Face, which was officially renewed for a second season earlier this year. 

In 2023, Lyonne was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine

Last year, Maya Rudolph reportedly separated amicably from her and Lyonne's production company, Animal Pictures, to produce independently.

Lyonne has continued to operate her business projects under the name Animal Pictures. 

In October, the women confirmed the news in a statement to Deadline. 

'Moving forward, Natasha will operate under the name Animal Pictures while Maya will produce independently. We will continue to support each other and remain committed to the various projects we’ve developed together and have in the pipeline. We are excited for each other and what the future holds,' the duo said.
