Could Buccaneers Pursue Free Agent Edge Rusher Yannick Ngakoue?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could use some help at edge rusher, and they could get that help in free agency.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to fill some of the holes in their roster through the draft, but there are still some spots that the team could find someone for in free agency.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they outline some of the biggest needs of each team following the 2024 NFL Draft. For the Bucs, one of the things that they could work on is the edge rusher position.

"Tampa could also benefit from adding another rotational pass-rusher," Bleacher Report writes. "While the Bucs recorded 48 sacks in 2023, YaYa Diaby was the only edge-defender to record more than five sacks. Yannick Ngakoue might be open to a team-friendly deal after recording just four sacks in 2023 and finishing the season on injured reserve."

Ngakoue has been one of the most consistent edge rushers in the entire NFL since he entered the league in 2016. Aside from this past season, he shows no signs of slowing down as a result of his age.

The former Pro Bowler recorded 9.5 sacks in just 15 games two seasons ago. If the Buccaneers were to sign an edge rusher in free agency to help them get to the quarterback, Ngakoue could be a very viable option.
