Toombs County Commission Chairman David Sikes has been elected as the 2024-2025 Board of Managers President for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).

“I’m excited for our county to be highlighted in Georgia and across the USA for this year. I am proud I get to serve Toombs County,” he commented on the honor. Sikes was sworn into this new role by fellow Toombs County Commissioner Alfred Cason during the recent installation luncheon at the Association’s annual conference in Chatham County. As Association president and a member of the executive committee, Sikes will work directly with Executive Director Dave Wills and fellow committee members to lead the Association and guide policies over the next year. Some of the objectives on which the Board will continue to work include issues that focus on increasing county efficiency, enhancing continuing education offerings, and fostering strong relationships between counties, the state, and the federal government.

'We are excited to welcome our newly-installed Board of Managers, a group of dedicated leaders chosen by their peers to guide our organization,' shared Wills. 'Their commitment and expertise will be invaluable as we work together to advance the interests of Georgia counties.”

The Association shared that Sikes was first elected to the ACCG Board of Managers in 2019 as the Defined Benefit Board of Trustees chair. Since then, the organization said that he has been an actively engaged leader in the Association and contributed greatly to its overall success. In addition to this, the Association has admired Sikes’ work as Toombs County Commission Chairman, where he has exemplified unwavering commitment, strong leadership, and humility in his role.

Apart from his position in government, Sikes leads a successful family-owned and operated paving business where he ascended to presidency of the company at age 34. His expertise in construction has earned him recognition as an “Under 40” pioneer in heavy equipment, a distinction that greatly informs his decision-making for the economic advancement of Toombs County.
