Please help me find a podcast episode about a woman who runs an online game and has to pull the plug on the community she made.

I remember listening to this (possibly two part episode) while going for a walk in 2020. A woman becomes emotionally invested in an online world/civilization she creates, but she eventually has to turn away from the game and permanently destroys the world she had built. It touches on themes of playing god and the grief of destroying a whole population, despite it being a digital one.

I can't stop thinking about this episode, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where to find it. Thank you for your help!

I recall something similar. And it’s racking my brain. This one isn’t a game world, but similar. I’ll keep thinking on it https://open.spotify.com/episode/6diuzeMCagVbMaVOF7WDEM?si=jnRrZeCUQUuQjBzg4Dd6Tg

I have searched for this episode in This American Life. Radiolab, and Reply All.... but I must be on the wrong track.

Reply all: Autumn episode #129

Ooh, this seems so close - I think you're totally right that it's about the Sims!! Gonna jump back into my search a little more!
