Am I too old to join US army at 20?

Should I Join?

It's frustrating to feel like I'm already too old to join the US Army at just 20. I mean, it's a little absurd to think that my age would be a barrier when so many people join later in life. But I get it, there are age limits for a reason. It's just hard to not feel like I’m not doing anything with my life when I see younger ppl signing up and embarking on their military careers. Lmao maybe there are other paths out there for me to serve my country.

It looks like you're new. Ensure you have posted using a clear and descriptive title. Check rule 2 for guidelines.

Include a branch in your post! Each is different so saying "the military" isn't helpful. Include your country if you're not asking about the U.S. military. Otherwise we'll assume you're American. Who said 20 is too old? 20 isn’t old at all. I enlisted when I was 17. I believe that 20 is a good age of coming into maturity. You’re not too young to fall for tricks and not to old that your body can’t keep up. If you want to serve your country then by all means do it. Perhaps at least one enlistment term can help you discover your “why”. Why are you doing what you’re doing, ya know?

I commend you for wanting to do more. If you decide not to do the military then you can serve by being a law enforcement officer, EMT, or get some schooling and become a lawyer. What I do NOT recommend is sitting and doing nothing.

The age limits are like 30something IIRC, you are actually relatively young by military standards.

Plenty of people joining in their mid-late 20s, you're fine.
