Galitzine went on to participate in country-level athletics competitions, however, an injury to his rotator cuff made him stop playing the sport. In a conversation with WWD (via Today), the star described himself as ‘sports crazy’ before pursuing acting. However, with his acting career blooming eventually, Galitzine said in retrospect how life has a funny way of opening one door when another closes.

Combining both aerobic and strength (resistance) training in just 30 minutes, HIIT is a type of interval training exercise. It’s basically any work that oscillates between several minutes of high-intensity movements and fixed period lower intensity movements or even complete rest.

Interesting fact: Interval training was initially introduced in the 1950s as a higher-intensity form called sprint interval training. In this training, exercises led up to a 100% maximum heart rate and were done to improve the performances of legendary Olympic athletes.

An HIIT workout can include anything from running, dancing, rowing machines, stationary bicycles, stair climbers or various bodyweight exercises. For example, a dance-focused HIIT workout will include a period of dancing as vigorously as possible, followed by slow, easy moves.

Its main USP over other workouts is the ability to help achieve similar results and health benefits in a shorter duration, including periods of rest.

The actor practices yoga

Having an aunt who’s a yoga instructor, Galitzine has been practising the discipline over the years. You don’t have to be a certified yogi to reap its benefits – just incorporating a few yoga asanas in your daily routine works wonders for your health.

Physically, yoga boosts your flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance. Meanwhile, on a psychological level, it cultivates mindfulness and develops inner awareness. Actors constantly have to morph their bodies to fit into the role they are playing, which at times, requires massive transformation. For his role in the 2022 romance film Purple Hearts, co-starring Sofia Carson, Nicholas Galitzine underwent intense training. Apart from going through basic Marine training to play Luke Morrow, a U.S. marine, the actor revealed that he was asked to go that extra mile to ‘beef up’ for the role.

In a conversation with Today, Galitzine said his initial prep was more cardio-centred. However, he got a call weeks before filming to further bulk up the role. So, what did he do? He force-fed himself to gain a little bit of mass, accompanied by running, pull-ups, squats as well as other exercises – all based on a Marine point-based system.
