In the aftermath of his emotionally charged divorce from Lisa Bonet, Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has chosen to embark on a pretty intense lifestyle transformation. Despite having enough money to spend his days in luxury, Momoa, 44, has opted for a humble and unusual living arrangement.
Momoa and Bonet, 56, were, at one time, a beloved Hollywood couple known for keeping the details of their romance relatively private. Fans were eager to unravel the details of their love story. Interestingly, Momoa confessed that he first saw Bonet on television when she was portraying Denise Huxtable on the sitcom The Cosby Show. He was smitten and immediately told his mother, “Mommy, I want that one.”
Their paths finally crossed at a jazz club through mutual acquaintances in 2005, and it was love at first sight for Momoa. Recounting the experience on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he vividly described it as a moment of fireworks. They started a family together and became husband and wife in 2017.
However, in January 2022, this fairytale all came crashing down when the seemingly perfect couple announced their separation after 16 years together. Bonet filed for divorce in January 2024, two years after separating. Despite their differences in preferences, Momoa leaning towards travel and adventure and Bonet preferring cozy activities, they remain committed to their children and still have a lot of love for each other.
Following his separation from Bonet, the Game of Thrones actor bid farewell to the home he once shared with his ex-wife and chose instead to make a van his new residence. This unexpected shift in lifestyle has surprised many people, yet Momoa openly shares glimpses of his “van life” on social media, embracing the simplicity and eco-friendly aspects of his newfound home.
Post-divorce, Momoa was occasionally seen residing in his camper van, parked near the home he once shared with Bonet and their children. This $750,000 Ford RV became a notable feature in his life, often serving as a makeshift accommodation during his filming jobs away from home. Momoa’s preference for a nomadic lifestyle is not new; he embraced the nomadic spirit during his pre-fame days on an adventurous journey through Ireland with a friend.
More recently, Momoa provided a glimpse into his van life through an Instagram post, showcasing the eco-friendly elements of his living space, including plastic-free products. He even showed off his resourcefulness by setting up a shower with a hanging shower head on the van’s door and strategically parking it near a superstore for added convenience.
While Jason Momoa’s “van life” may seem unconventional, it does make sense for someone with such an easygoing and carefree approach to life.
