HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- At Foxmoor Farm in Horseheads, horseback riders are honing their craft, some of them making it all the way to national level.  They train almost daily to compete, and that hard work paid off, as one came home with a national title.

Cora, Claire, and Sydney compete in IEA, the Interscholastic Equestrian Association.  At 13, 14, and 15 years old respectively, they've qualified for the nationals competition.  They competed in North Carolina at the end of April.

"When you first go in the ring, sometimes a little bit of nerve kick in, but once you get in, I love it, and its [about] feeling the horses and being able to go along with them and feel how they do," said Claire Steed.

Cora competed in cross rails and flat this year, guiding her horse into different jumps and trots.  She competed against the top 18 riders from across the country in the middle school division, and at just 13-years-old, brought home a national title in flat.

"It was really cool and it was one of the best experiences. I was not expecting it, but then they called my name and I was like whoa, that's so cool," said Cora Steed.

For these girls, its not just about competing.  Riding horses is a lifestyle, and they dedicate hours and hours each week at Foxmoor Farms to the sport.

"It's just being able to always have friends here, even if your main friends aren't here, there's also more friends that you can make be able to talk to.  The connections that you make with the horses is just awesome," said Sydney Kiczenski.

The riders will continue to train, in the hopes of bringing home more national titles.
