ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) is making waves in the industry by deploying the Airbus A350-900 on short domestic routes within the US this year.
This move will see the flagship aircraft operating flights between Atlanta (ATL) and Orlando (MCO) for a limited period this summer, following a recent introduction on a similar route between Minneapolis and Detroit. Let’s delve deeper into this exciting development and what it means for travelers.
Delta A350 on Domestic Route
Delta recently updated its July flight schedule to include the A350-900 on flights between its main hub at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) starting July 5th, reported Ishrion Aviation.
Flight Number | Origin | Departure Time | Destination | Arrival Time | Duration |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
DL1213 | Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) | 08:15 | Orlando International Airport (MCO) | 09:45 | 1 hour, 30 minutes |
Orlando International Airport (MCO) | 11:05 | Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) | 12:37 | 1 hour, 32 minutes |
This decision marks a significant increase in capacity on the route, showcasing Delta’s commitment to offering a premium flying experience to its passengers.
With the A350-900 operating as flight DL1213, travelers can expect a seamless journey between the bustling cities of Atlanta and Orlando. This route, covering an average distance of 403 miles, may be short-lived but promises a memorable experience for those onboard, reports Simple Flying.
The aircraft will operate exclusively on Sundays and Mondays in July, totaling 18 flights – nine in each direction.
What you Can Expect in Flight?
Delta’s A350-900 comes in three versions based on seating configurations, with the “35L” variant accommodating the most passengers at 339 seats.
These specific aircraft were formerly operated by LATAM Airlines (LA) and feature a two-class configuration, with 30 lie-flat Delta One seats in the front cabin and 309 main cabin seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
For added comfort and convenience, 63 main cabin seats are designated as Delta Comfort+ seats, offering four more inches of pitch for a more relaxing journey.
The Delta Premium Select class, the airline’s premium economy offering, features wider recliner seats in a 2-4-2 layout, providing a touch of luxury to passengers seeking a more elevated travel experience.
Strong Summer Demand
With significant demand for flights to Orlando year-round, Delta has strategically added the A350-900 to its route between ATL and MCO to cater to increased summer travel.
The airline already schedules a variety of narrowbody aircraft on the route, including the A321ceo, Boeing 737-900ER, and 757-200, highlighting the popularity of this particular route.
According to Cirium data, in July, travelers can look forward to flying on the A350-900 alongside other aircraft types, excluding the A321neo, offering a total of 192,010 seats across 930 flights.
This move reflects Delta’s commitment to providing ample seating capacity and a diverse range of travel options to meet the needs of passengers flying between Atlanta and Orlando.
