Donald G. Pyle OBITUARY

PYLE, DONALD G. 77, of Lakewood passed away on August 20. The funeral will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. at Lakewood Church of Christ, 455 S. Youngfield Ct. He is survived by wife Jean, daughters Kerry Williams (Mike), and Kathy Zablocki (Steve) son Mike (Sharol), sister Charlyse Lipman, brothers Merrill and Kendall (Wanda), grandchildren Kathleen Beck, Summer Borga (Chris), Morgan and Natalie Pyle, great-grandchildren Joshua and Jacob Borga. Don was born and raised in Elk City, OK. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Jean Rash on November 30, 1946. He attended Anderson College in Indiana and graduated with his bachelors degree from Denver University in 1952, and his masters degree from Ball State University in 1961. Don coached and taught in the Anderson, Indiana Schools from 1956 to 1964 and coached football at Anderson College in 1961 and 1962. Don was assistant principal and athletic director at Wheat Ridge High School from 1964 to 1985. He was the Colorado Admissions Counselor for the University of Nebraska at Kearney from 1986 to present. Don also was a manager at Jefferson County Stadium from 1984 to present. He was a life long member of the Elks Club and the American Legion. Don was inducted into the Jefferson County Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991, the Indiana High School State Wrestling Coaches Association in 1989 and the Anderson College 1940’s Football Team of the Decade in 1997.
