West has a lot to be proud of after competing at the state swimming and championships.

A state title for one of the Golden Eagles’ relay teams would make it even better.

The West girls 200 medley relay team swam to a state title, posting a time of 1:41.50, beating out Campolindo, which finished with a time of 1:42.01.

It was a dominating performance for the Golden Eagles that was quickly started by Hailey Marinovich that was finished by Sophia Oka-Fedder.

“About two months ago I knew we were going to go 1:41,” Clovis West coach Adam Reid said. “So 1:41 is what we were going to go after and we did it.”

Also contributing on the state-title relay team after Hailey Marinovich was Hannah Marinovich and Audrey Hill.

While Reid’s relay team won a state title, it was equally impressive how his team fared in the team standings.

The Golden Eagles finished third (151) behind Santa Margarita (210) and Carondelt (158).

“It’s incredible,” Clovis West coach Adam Reid said. “I’ve had phenomenal teams in the past year. I mean top three … it’s the highest we’ve ever done and I’m super pumped for our girls to be able to do that.”
