Meet the Tribune's Top 50 students for 2024

The Huron Daily Tribune announced its top-50 students of 2024 during a special ceremony held for the students and their families at the Franklin Inn May 8. 

Each year, the top-50 students are determined by a formula that includes their GPA and ACT/SAT scores. Check out all 50 students' bios below.

Regan Hobkirk School: Bad Axe High School Hometown: Bad Axe Parents: Bob and Stacie Hobkirk Extra Curricular Activities: Hobkirk is currently the National Honor Society president, the Interact Club secretary and the Class of 2024 treasurer. Community Activities: In both 2022 and 2023, she was a part of the service trip to the Dominican Republic, where she assisted with improving living structures and provided mosquito nets. During high school, Hobkirk has also been a member of the volleyball, softball and golf teams while being active in her church community. Future Plans: In the fall, she will attend Grand Valley State University to study nursing.

Prior to arriving at the Tribune, Eric was the managing editor for Sunrise Printing & Publishing Inc., overseeing the publication of three weekly newspapers in Northern Michigan.

He has a bachelor of science degree in editorial journalism from Central Michigan University.

He and his wife, Kay, have two sons, Ethan and Ryan. Eric is a lifelong hockey and NASCAR fan.
