HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced the U.S. Senate passed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2024, which contains some money for an airport in the Tri-State.

Officials with Senator McConnell’s office say the Senate’s legislation reauthorizes funding for the FAA and airports across the country. Officials say Senator McConnell helped “shepherd” this bill to Senate passage and secured the following provisions that benefit Kentucky’s airports, one of which is the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, which received $300,000.

“The Senate’s bipartisan legislation provides essential funds for the Federal Aviation Administration and invests in the strength and resilience of our nation’s airports. I’m proud that Kentucky will see increased funding to overhaul our aviation infrastructure and make flying safer and more passenger-friendly in my home state. This legislation is a win for passengers and it’s a win for Kentucky’s airports,” said Senator McConnell.
