The Minnesota Vikings signed tight end Robert Tonyan on Thursday afternoon and it had fellow tight end T.J. Hockenson excited by the move. With Hockenson potentially out for the first few months of the season, having depth at the position will be important.

Even with Hockenson fully healthy, having a player like Tonyan is good for depth purposes. The Vikings would then have the flexibility to rotate the position more often.

Hockenson took to Twitter/X and expressed his excitement for the move and it was palpable.

Tonyan is now on his fourth team in the NFC North, having signed with the Detroit Lions as a UDFA and played his six seasons with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Now, Tonyan will compete for a roster spot on the Vikings.
