Ange Postecoglou: Major update on Tottenham future – sources

Ange Postecoglou was hurt by the way the season fizzled out at Tottenham but will remain at the club despite his recent explosive rant.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Postecoglou, 58, will honour his long-term commitment to Spurs and look to take them to the next level.

Frustration boiled over following the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, but Postecoglou’s rant was directed at the board as a call for investment to improve his side.

This comes after some Tottenham fans expected the Australian to quit after his rant was compared to that of Antonio Conte shortly before the former manager departed last season.

Ange Postecoglou to remain at Tottenham despite recent anger

The manager was left frustrated after the defeat to Man City as Spurs fans celebrated the defeat since it dampened Arsenal’s chances of winning the league.

That defeat also meant Tottenham had missed out on Champions League qualification, leaving Postecoglou fuming.

With a run of just two wins in their last eight games, Spurs look set for a fifth-placed finish, although defeat to Sheffield United on the final day could open the door for rivals Chelsea to finish above them.

However, despite the frustration, the boss will look to improve his squad over the summer and take Tottenham a step further next season.

Football Insider revealed that a major upheaval of the squad is set to take place in the transfer window, with nine first-team players expected to leave.
