Disney’s “Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes” debuted atop the U.K. and Ireland box office with £3.8 million ($4.7 million), according to numbers from Comscore.

Universal’s “The Fall Guy” dropped down to second place with £948,970 and now has a running total of £6.7 million. In third place, in its third weekend, Warner Bros.’ “Challengers” collected £333,281 for a total of £4.7 million.

In fourth position, in its fifth weekend, Studiocanal’s “Back to Black” earned £211,408 for a total of £11.2 million. Rounding off the top five was Sony’s “Tarot,” which read the cards to the tune of £140,983 in its second weekend and now has a total of £923,013.

The only other debut in the Top 10 was Trafalgar Releasing’s opera recording “Madama Butterfly,” which bowed in ninth place with £96,727.

The mid-week releases coming up include Trafalgar’s “Transformers: 40th Anniversary Event,” where episodes of the animated 1984 series will be screened alongside original voice-over talent, including Peter Cullen (original voice of Optimus Prime) and Frank Welker (original voice of Megatron), team up for the first time in decades to revisit their characters. A behind-the-scenes table read appears on a split screen for the pilot episode, “More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1,” followed by a traditional screening of the next three episodes of the series. And CinemaLive’s “42nd Street – The Musical.”

On the weekend, Paramount is opening “IF,” where, after discovering she can see everyone’s imaginary friends, a girl embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids. The film is directed by John Krasinski and the cast includes Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Cailey Fleming, Louis Gossett Jr., Fiona Shaw, Alan S. Kim, Steve Carell, Bobby Moynihan, Matt Damon, Jon Stewart, Emily Blunt, Maya Rudolph, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, Awkwafina and Vince Vaughn.

Lionsgate is opening Renny Harlin’s “The Strangers: Part 1,” starring Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez. In the film, after their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple is forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive.

Modern Films is releasing Malaysian filmmaker Amanda Nell Eu’s Cannes-winning “Tiger Stripes” that follows an 11-year-old girl who is carefree until she starts to experience horrifying physical changes to her body. Vertigo is opening Luna Carmoon’s Venice winner “Hoard” that follows Maria – a teenager whose mother used to be a hoarder. In the 1990s, she lives in a foster home where a previous resident Micheal inspires her to revisit her childhood memories and passions that she has repressed.

Kaleidoscope release “Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire” is a gritty comedy-drama based on real events that tells the story of a south London crime family. From Dogwoof comes Cannes title “Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg,” a documentary that reveals the story of musician, actor, muse and mother who rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s.

Parkland Film Capital’s comedy “Two Tickets To Greece,” starring Laure Calamy, Olivia Cote and Kristin Scott Thomas, follows childhood friends who cross paths after many years and decide to finally take their dream vacation to Greece.

ICA Cinema is opening documentary “Ospina Cali Colombia,” which follows Luis Ospina, frontman of the Grupo de Cali, a fascinating figure in Latin American cinema. Another documentary, Imax release “The Blue Angels,” follows the veterans and newest class of Navy and Marine Corps flight squadron as they go through intense training and into a season of aerial artistry.

BFI Distribution is re-releasing Roberto Rossellini’s 1945 masterpiece “Rome, Open City.”
