'Absolutely insane' - Jurgen Klopp sends emotional message to Liverpool away supporters

Jurgen Klopp has saluted the “absolutely insane” travelling Liverpool support after his final away game in charge.

The Reds fought out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Klopp had his name chanted by the away end throughout the match, and after the final whistle saluted the support in an emotional exchange.

And when later asked about the backing from the travelling Kop, the Liverpool boss said pointed to the huge following his team have had wherever they have travelled across the globe during his near nine years in charge.

“I enjoyed it always, I enjoyed it today,” said Klopp. “I appreciate so much what these boys and girls are doing. The away fans are always like absolutely insane what they did, where they were. We have asked them to travel a lot over the years.

“It was and is a wonderful relationship. I always try to show my appreciation, and today the boys showed that as well with the way they played.

“I still don’t feel like it’s the last time, I know it is but it just doesn’t feel it. I am obviously more professional than I thought, because I was completely in the game, I didn’t think a second about it being my last away game, I had no movie going through my head, nothing. I was completely in the game.”

Liverpool were denied a victory when Villa substitute Jhon Duran scored twice in the closing five minutes of normal time, with the Reds having netted through an Emiliano Martinez own goal, a Cody Gakpo strike and Jarell Quansah’s first Premier League goal.

The visitors were missing the injured Andy Robertson although Klopp offered an encouraging update on the left-back’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s season finale at home to Wolves.

“I saw him this morning and he told me he’s ready to train from tomorrow on,” said the Reds boss on Monday night. “That’s the situation.”
