Despite some poor reviews, thought we'd give it a go as we used to live nearby many years ago. My step father is partially sighted so I requested a well lit table on the online booking. Arrived 10 mins early and was immediately perfectly seated by a large window. Staff were excellent and caring regarding my step father which was a nice touch. My wife and I shared a pate starter and it was lovely. Lunch mains were Spaghetti Carbonara for me and Chicken Supremes for the other two. Food was delivered quickly and was really good. Had a quick look around the venue which was just 'The Forest' when we lived here 50 years ago (left when I was 15) and a staff member explained how the venue had changed over the years. A very enjoyable afternoon that we will be repeating very soon.

We booked a table and five of us had a good lunch at a fair price. The staff were excellent, it was a pleasure to eat there. we shall look forward to returning soon.

Very nice food, fresh ingredients, good value. Good service. Every time we have visited The Ego we have been pleased with our meal. Nothing to complain about at all.

The staff were extremely polite, food was very good, would definitely reccomend a visit for any occassion, requested window seat and got although view not amazing I do prefer lots of light

1st visit to The Forest. Booked for a family meal everything seemed fine at 1st but noticed they seemed to be short staffed. ordered starters and they arrived in a reasonable time just a small issue with soups coming out and then having to wait for spoons and bread. then the issue with our main meals taking around an hour after we had finished our starters my roast came with some veg warm & some cold tasted like they had been standing a long time I also only had 1 slice of beef not sure if this was usual amount. Everyone else in our party seemed to be ok with the meals just the issue with the long wait. Desserts ordered and came out in quick time. Some ordered the mini with a drink and some ordered normal desserts the strange thing was the mini desserts seemed larger than the normal ones overall value for 6 people below average for the service and the quality of some food. Bill for 6 with drinks £185 we also had a birthday email that was sent to me on the day for a free 3 course meal but your system would not allow us access to the code. Been to the Cannock branch a few time and never had a problem so I will just put this down to being short staffed?
