why my account is locked and how do I unlock it

my account is locked can you help me unlock it. I have tried to reset password. no luck.

Are you using Microsoft365 business account(xxx@xxx.onmicrosoft.com/xxx@yourdomain.com)  or personal account (which is ended with outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com/msn.com)?  

Since different types of accounts are supported by different support teams on the forum, after getting the detailed information, I will provide more information accordingly.

I am using personal email for school ***@wccnet.edu it keeps telling me that my account has been locked and that I need to contact microsoft to unlock it. I have tried to reset password and no luck. I have called IT at the collage and they said no issues appears on their ends.

Thanks for your update!

Since the education accounts are manged by the tenant admins(IT department) in the schools/collages/Universities, the blocked account issue shoul be addressed by the IT department in your Collage.

As you mentioned that the IT did not find any issue for your account, there might be some misconfiguration that they did not find out or some backend problems which need further check from the backend. In this situation, we suggest your IT admin to go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request. The support engineers there have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket: Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help. The engineers in related team have higher permission and resources than us to help check the root cause from background directly. They can also help closed check from your side via remote sessions.
