Ringo Starr Announces Country Album for October 2024 Release

Ringo Starr, the legendary drummer ofThe Beatles, has revealed plans to release a country music album in October 2024. The album, produced by renowned music producer T Bone Burnett, marks Starr's return to the genre that defined much of his career with the Beatles and as a solo artist.

In an interview with USA Today, Starr shared details about the collaboration with Burnett. "I'm working on it with someone very special – T Bone Burnett," Starr said. Burnett has been working on the project in Nashville and has come to Los Angeles to work with Starr, bringing nine songs to the table so far.

The upcoming country album will be Starr's first since 1970's "Beaucoups of Blues", which was recorded in Nashville. Starr expressed confidence in the new project, noting, "I think some of my finest vocals are on that album, because I was relaxed." While no title has been confirmed yet, the album is expected to feature top country musicians, given Starr's history of working with artists like Charlie Daniels, Ben Keith, and D.J. Fontana.

In the meantime, Starr is preparing to embark on a tour with his All Starr Band, a project he has been working on since 1989. The tour is set to begin on May 22 in Las Vegas, with longtime collaborator Steve Lukather joining him on stage. Starr shared the origins of the All Starr Band, saying,"When I first started this, I was invited to put a band together and go on tour, and I said yes, and then I said: What do you mean, yes? You're the drummer in other people's bands!"He went on to explain that he called up his musician friends, including Lukather, who has been a constant member of the band since 2012.

Starr also opened up about his enduring friendship with Paul McCartney, his former bandmate in The Beatles. "We're buddies," Starr said, noting that the two often have dinner together when they're in the same city, whether it's in Los Angeles or England.
