Six people hurt in A64 horror crash that shut road for 12 hours

Six people have been hurt in a sserious crash in Yorkshire - with one patient having to be cut out of their car.

The crash happened on the A64, near York, between the A1237 and B1248 Malton, before 6pm yesterday (Friday, May 10). Road closures were in place for about 12 hours.

Paramedics and rescue teams rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found five of the casualties by the roadside but a sixth was trapped inside the car and needed to be cut free. North Yorkshire Police carried out lengthy investigation work at the scene.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service issued the following update, it said: "Crews from Malton, York and Acomb responded to a road traffic collision involving two cars. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate one casualty from their vehicle into the care of paramedics.

"The other five casualties were out prior to crews arrival. The incident was left in the hands of police who were carrying out an investigation."
