The Ford F-Maxx was a true automotive giant. Just to get a sense of its size, imagine a pickup truck longer than many full-size vans on the market – that's the F-Maxx! This incredible vehicle was built by Tropical Cabines, a Brazilian company that specialized in modifying vehicles like ambulances and patrol cars. Sadly, production ended in 2021 when Ford shut down its Brazilian factory.
Tropical Cabines had a long history of customizing Chevrolets and Fords, creating over 20 different models and a total of 7,000 vehicles in 16 years. But none were quite as extraordinary as the F-Maxx.
Clocking in at a whopping 24.6 feet long and boasting six doors (not including the trunk), the F-Maxx was built on a truck chassis and rode on massive 22-inch wheels. A 400-horsepower, 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine provided the muscle needed to move this behemoth.
While the F-Maxx wasn't exactly a looker on the inside, it prioritized comfort for passengers. It offered Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 55 devices, three sunroofs, and even a built-in refrigerator! Three rows of spacious and comfortable seats ensured a pleasant ride, and high-quality materials along with modern tech features like an 8-inch touchscreen and a premium sound system made it a great choice for long journeys.
There's simply nothing else out there that compares to the F-Maxx in terms of size. While some large pickup trucks might come close, like the Hummer H2 and H3, Cadillac Escalade, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Chevrolet Avalanche, or Mitsubishi Montero, the F-Maxx dwarfed them all.
During its 14-year production run, only 30 F-Maxx trucks were ever built, each with a hefty price tag of around $250,000. The closure of Ford's Brazilian factory in 2021 spelled the end for this unique pickup truck, leaving those 30 lucky owners as the exclusive possessors of this automotive marvel.
