Alex Albon and James Vowles have showcased how the new Williams contract was signed, and it's perhaps not as glamourous as Formula 1 fans might expect. Albon was on his way to an adventure with his girlfriend in the Cayman Islands when he had to change his plans to sign on the piece of paper.

Albon on a date

After the Miami Grand Prix, drivers had a week gap between races, meaning they were able to relax before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola this weekend. It seemed like Albon was able to get away and relax before being back in action this weekend when he shared some pictures of a date with his girlfriend, Lily Muni He, in the Cayman Islands.

However, that wasn't the reality as Albon got interpreted with a new contract to sign. Vowles wanted to demystify how the deal was done. "I was in a car on the way to kissing stingrays. I was going to do the stingray first, but we wanted it done that day. With the time zone being seven or eight hours, we had to take a quick stop to the office. I don't know if the paper came across soggy," Albon explained.

Vowles jokingly said: "There was signs that you had just came out of the water." Albon's new deal sees him stay at Williams for the long-term future.
