Can anyone (maybe on the industry) please help explain why House Wine in All Inclusive resorts in Mexico/Caribbean is treated as if it’s as precious as Chanel No.5…
Our first trip we sat down and asked for house wine. Waiter arrived and poured a small amount into the glass - I assumed going through the motions about “tasting the wine” ….. I took a sip and nodded. At which point he poured a similar derisory amount into my wifes glass and trotted off.
Not being particular wine snob or trying excessive consumption - but I like a couple of good sized glasses with my dinner and constantly having to cajole the waiter to put more than about 50ml in the glass at a time
Is tedious. Hey, I’d buy a bottle of it was about £25-30, but they want over £100 for the cheapest bottle on the wine menu. However - you order a G&T at the bar and they merrily drown a glass of ice in about 1/4 bottle of gin and add a splash of tonic!
