House of the Dragon Season 2's latest trailer sees Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) preparing for the family drama to end all family drama.

The half-siblings are locked in a war of succession, each hoping to rule over the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon currently sits atop the Iron Throne, advised by his mother Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and grandfather Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans). However, over on Dragonstone, Rhaenyra and her uncle-husband Daemon (Matt Smith) are planning to retaliate.

Based on the trailer, the choice to go to war is a not one Rhaenyra takes lightly. She understands that the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms must also be Protector of the Realm, and a civil war puts all her subjects at risk. However, Aegon is a petulant sadist, and his brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) killed her son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) in the Season 1 finale — war is the only option for her to get vengeance and take the throne.

The trailer teases several of the battles we can expect as Rhaenyra and Aegon's forces clash — especially the airborne ones. Behold Aegon riding his dragon Sunfyre, Aemond on Vhagar, and Rhaenys (Eve Best) on Meleys. The forecast is fiery, folks.

But if you're looking for ice, you're in luck: The trailer also gives us a quick peek at Rhaenyra's son Jacaerys (Harry Collett) palling around with Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) in the North. That's right — we're going back to Winterfell this season.

House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres June 16 on HBO and Max.
