Purple Star designation for Arts Impact Middle School

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A Columbus City School has reached a historic achievement.

Arts Impact Middle School became the district’s first school and the first middle school in Ohio to receive the Purple Star designation from the Ohio Department of Education.

The designation recognizes schools for their commitment to supporting the students of military families and the families themselves.

Leaders at Arts Impact Middle School said they plan to add Veterans Day assemblies and since it is an arts school, to bring in veteran artists to share their military experiences through their artwork.

School leaders said their military support programs are always evolving.

Ninety-seven Ohio schools received the recognition this year for the first time; 74 other Ohio schools earned a renewal after three years as dedicated Purple Star schools.
