Senior Girlz included for games against Brazil
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Eighteen members of the Reggae Girlz squad that represented Jamaica at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, have been included in the 23-member team named by the Jamaica Football Federation on Friday.
The team is set to represent Jamaica in two international friendlies against Brazil in early June.
This could signal an end to a stand-off between the players and the JFF leading into the World Cup in Australia and afterwards, which saw Jamaica using younger players in several games including the inaugural Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup.
Included in the squad that will be coached by Hubert Busby, who was earlier named as head coach, are: Chantelle Swaby, Denesha Blackwood, Drew Spence, Jody Brown, Rebecca Spencer and Peyton McNamara.
The games will be played on June 1 and June 4 and the team will depart on May 26 and return on June 5.
The squad: Chantelle Swaby, Konya Plummer, Jade Bailey, Denesha Blackwood, Kayla McKeena, Allyson Swaby, Drew Spence, Atlanta Primus, Vyan Sampson, Peyton McNamara, Page Bailey-Gayle, Trudy Carter, Kameron Simmonds, Tiffany Cameron, Sydney Schneider, Rebecca Spencer, Niya Cardoza, Liya Brooks, Amelia Van Zaten, Jody Brown, Israela Groves, Davia Richards and Lauren Reid.
