As in every major tournament, at UEFA Euro 2024 we will have the opportunity to watch several top young players. Some of them have already established themselves in clubs, and we believe that the upcoming championship could produce young players around whom Europe will fight in the future. Who are the players that should be worthy of fans’ attention.
Top Young Players at Euro: Bellingham as the biggest star
Jude Bellingham
As for the young players at UEFA Euro 2024, great attention will be paid to the performance of Jude Bellingham, who moved to Madrid last summer and immediately brought what was expected of him in the first season. The tournament in Germany will be the first big competition where Bellingham will play a serious role and where he is expected to be one of the leaders of the national team, even though he should only turn 21 during the Euro.
In just a few years, this guy experienced a meteoric rise, and even during his stay in Birmingham it was clear that he would become one of the most talented young players in Europe in the coming years. He chose an excellent club for development, for which Borussia Dortmund is known, and then at the age of 20 he was transferred to a royal club. If the parties from Madrid are transferred to the national team, England could have a very strong weapon in order to finally become the champion of Europe for the first time in history.
Xavi Simons
Xavi Simmons, a talented footballer who will play for the Netherlands, is quite rightly on the list of young players to watch out for at the upcoming Euro. He made his debut at the previous World Cup but is expected to play a much more important role in Germany than he did then. Simmons went through the junior categories of PSG and Barcelona, but he did not get a serious opportunity there, and a great season at PSV sent him to Leipzig, where he plays as a loan player from PSG.
In Paris, as things stand, he won’t get a chance next season either, although potentially his performances at the Euro could change that decision. This guy does literally everything, he is very agile, he has great dribbling skills, he scores goals and if he is at a high level, the Netherlands would after a long time have a notable performance at the upcoming Euro.
Rasmus Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund, a guy who plays for Manchester United, is on the list of young players to watch out for at the upcoming Euro. This player, like Bellingham, experienced a meteoric rise in just a few years. He spent two seasons in his homeland where he wore the Copenhagen jersey. He did not stay long in Sturm and Atalanta and since last summer he has been a player of the team from Old Trafford.
As for his performance, it can be said that he was solid in his first season in England, even though United failed as a team. So far, he has scored seven goals in 12 games in the national team, and if he continues in a similar manner at the Euro, Denmark could potentially be a surprise like at the last Euro when this national team reached the semi-finals.
Jamal Musiala
At the previous Euro, Jamal Musiala became the youngest player ever to play for the national team at a major competition. He appeared in the match against Hungary at the age of 18 years and 117 days. Three years later he is still on the list of young players to look out for especially as this will be the competition where he will play his most serious role yet.
He didn’t have too many reasons to celebrate in the past period because both Germany and Bayern started to stumble, and we will see if the host of the tournament could experience a rise at the upcoming Euro. If Musiala is at an enviable level then Germany could hope for a good result after several disappointing competitions.
Florian Wirtz
On the list of young players to watch out for at the Euros, we have to mention the compatriot of the aforementioned guy, Florian Wirtz. This guy had a great season behind him because he brought a historic title for Bayer Leverkusen with great games and was the best player in the Bundesliga last season. Just a few months ago Wirtz made history as he scored the second fastest goal in the history of international football as he scored after just seven seconds against France in a friendly match.
He suffered a serious knee injury less than two years ago and was not on the field for almost a year, but this season he showed all his magnificent talent. He and Musiala will be the pillars of the national team that, under the baton of Julian Nagelsmann, intends to return to the paths of old glory.
Lamine Yamal
Finally, we will mention a guy who is only 16 years old, and like all the previously mentioned young players, he will not have a secondary role in the tournament. Although extremely young, Yamal has already made 40 appearances for Barcelona and has worn the Spanish national team jersey six times. He is another offshoot of the famous La Masia and in the coming years a lot is expected from this boy both in Barcelona and in Spain.
Regardless of whether he is a starter or comes off the bench at the Euro, Yamal is expected to make an enviable contribution. In terms of playing style, he resembles Leo Messi, and we will see if in the coming years he could grow into a great player like the legendary Argentinian player.
