Can I put a note on the mailbox for the mailman to put my mail on the doorstep? The box lock is broken so I can't get my mail
So recently it seems likes someone tried lockpicking the mailbox, it's a community mailbox with around 6 mail boxes. I checked the mail with a key only Monday this week, so it was fine, but recently on friday the lock is very damaged (i can barely get the key inside, and can't turn it at all). My worry is there's time sensitive mail inside and I can't get to it by the time the lock is changed.
So if I put a note on my box above my slot, will this possibly get the mailman to bring the mail inside the box to the doorstep? Or will that not work idk
You can try, but they don't have to do it. They're obligated to deliver to the mailbox, and if they can't, it'll get held at the depot, but that doesn't mean your postie might not do you a solid. There should be a way to report a damaged lock to have it fixed. I assume calling Canada Post customer service, but I don't have a community mailbox so I'm not 100% certain that's how it works
I did send a service ticket to Canada Post regarding a replacement for he lock, but my worry is how long it'll take to get the keys. They said it could take around 3 business days to get it fixed, but it could be longer for the keys. I think I'll at least try putting a note on the box in the meantime. If that doesn't work, I might sit in near the mailbox Monday morning to get my mail
Tuesday morning. Monday is a day off because of the holiday.
Damn :( I didn't realize, thank you
If the landlord owns the box, the landlord must change it. Former postie here.
