Italian musician Gen is in Cuba (+Photos)

Havana, May 15 (Prensa Latina) Italian artist Gen, who is currently promoting his second album entitled "Nuestro Hombre en La Habana" (Our Man in Havana), says he is in love with Cuba and its music and wants to fulfill his dreams in this country.

This is what the Italian singer said in exclusive statements to Prensa Latina after offering a concert at the Café Miramar jazz club in Havana to promote the sounds of the new album, which contains 11 tracks, ten of which were composed by him.

The CD only has one song in Italian; the remaining are in Spanish. “My compositions are flexible and include a variety of genres, including pop, jazz, and Latin American sound. This is what we created with Manolito Simonet and Boris Luna, pianist of the Los Van Van orchestra: preserve my style but with Cuban sonorities”, he said.

Gen has a strong bond with this country and with this orchestra that Juan Formell directed until his death: “I always wanted to work with his musicians because I heard them live during my stay in London, and I wanted to launch my songs with that style,” he stressed.

He has been working since last year on this new project with Simonet as musical director and Luna, who was in charge of the arrangements and playing the piano. “Everything went well. It was a long work at the production and post-production level.”

His new musical production has a lot to do with the personal stories of the book “Nuestro Hombre en La Habana” by British writer, screenwriter, and literary critic Graham Greene, hence the title of his CD.
