SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A brush fire burned 18 acres in rural East County Monday afternoon.

The blaze, reported shortly before 2 p.m., started as a structure fire that spread to vegetation south of Loveland Reservoir near Sloane Canyon, east of Jamul, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze was previously reported to have the potential to spread to 100 acres, Cal Fire said.
