These bomb-defusing scenes had us on the edge of our seats.
retribution

In your Sunday Night movie Retribution, Liam Neeson plays a man who is told his car, which also has his kids inside, has an armed bomb under the driver's seat. If he attempts to get out, the bomb will go off. Luckily, if there is one thing Neeson's characters know how to do, it's to survive life-threatening situations. Let's take a look at other iconic bomb scenes.

Red or white wine – Blown Away
Jeff Bridges drives this exhilarating thriller as Lieutenant Jimmy Dove, a veteran bomb squad member. In one of many tense scenes, he finds himself helping a woman who has accidentally triggered a bomb. Dove is faced with the typical movie conundrum of which colour wire to cut to defuse the bomb. He casually asks the woman if she prefers red or white wine to make his choice. She chooses red, which luckily happens to be the right wire. Dove manages to defuse the bomb just seconds before it's due to explode.

The gas chamber – The Rock
Nicolas Cage's character, FBI Agent Stanley Goodspeed, is faced with a deadly situation when a package with apparently innocuous contents is received by his team but turns out to contain a noxious gas and a bomb. When his colleague plays around with a baby doll and accidentally releases the deadly gas into their chamber, it turns into a fight against time as Goodspeed battles the gas and the bomb. To make matters worse the gas is eating through their protective suits! But with Cage in charge, it's barely a matter of minutes before he saves the day in style.

Stopping a bomb with jugs of water – Die Hard with a Vengeance
John McClane (Bruce Willis) is faced with a  water conundrum when he needs to prevent a bomb from detonating in Central Park. The man behind the bomb, Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons), tells McClane he needs the exact amount of water to save the day: too little or too much will set off the bomb. McClane and Zeus (Samuel L Jackson) need to do the maths in less than a minute to prevent the bomb from detonating.

Car bomb – The Hurt Locker
In this memorable scene from The Hurt Locker Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner) has to disarm a car bomb while civilians and soldiers watch him. James takes a calm approach to the scenario and refuses to put his headset back on to take instructions from the team.  He takes matters into his own hands, making the scene anxiety-inducing to watch.
