MP’s sessions for seniors in Wick and Dunbeath

By David G Scott

Jamie Stone, MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, is set to arrange two 'one-stop' support events for senior residents in Wick and Dunbeath.

The move follows the MP's success in hosting various drop-in events across the constituency including a recent carer's listening event.

Both events will be held on June 14 with more set to take place shortly.

• Wick: 10am-12pm (June 14), Pulteney Centre, Huddart Street, Wick

• Dunbeath: 1pm-3pm (June 14), Dunbeath and District Centre, 7 Neil Gunn Road, Dunbeath

The sessions are free to attend and no appointment is necessary.

A range of organisations, including the Department for Work and Pensions, will be on hand to give advice to attendees and provide support options.

Commenting, Mr Stone said: "Being a politician is not just about showing up to debate on legislation, it's about being on the ground and solving local problems"

"There is no doubt that there is a problem in the far north when it comes to elderly people not having access to adequate levels of support"

"No one politician or organisation can fix these issues alone. It takes a collaborative approach that joins up communities with government, the third sector and legislators."

"I am immensely grateful to my colleagues and all of our partners who are coming together to make this model for change a success."
