A dance duo from Vancouver Island will be back on TV screens this Tuesday as they compete for the crown on the reality competition series “Canada’s Got Talent.”
Along with seven other acts, Funkanometry’s Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush have made it to the finale, meaning they’re one step closer to the $1 million grand prize as the show, filmed in Niagara Falls, Ont., wraps up its fourth season in a live studio audience setting.
The winner is determined by Canadians who vote for their favourite act, according to a press release. The Nanaimo-based Funkanometry has already gone viral on social media, with millions of followers and views, and now they’re vying for votes.
“You might think our big social media presence means a big paycheque, but actually, very little of our content is optimally monetized due to the iconic music we choose. The grind is real!” the group said in an Instagram post.
“Winning CGT would be life-changing on so many levels. But most importantly, it means fulfilling our biggest dream from day 1; allowing us to focus on creating even better content for our Funk Fam,” they added.
“This includes even more and higher quality live performances, tours, videos, events, battling, etc. Winning this prize will ultimately allow us to spread even more positivity throughout Canada, and the world.”

Funkanometry was previously on the NBC series “World of Dance” and “America’s Got Talent.” In 2022, when singer Annie Lenox shared their Sweet Dreams dance video on her own social media, Fryer told CHEK News the recognition was “just crazy.”
Come Tuesday, CGT voting is open online at citytv.com/vote from approximately 5:10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. People can vote multiple times per email, with “the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history” up for grabs, says Rogers Media.
Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus, and Kardinal Offishall are the judges on the show. During the May 7 episode, Singh lauded Funkanometry as “the act that I would want to see over and over and over again.”
This year, four Island-based acts made it onto CGT, with only Funkanometry advancing to the finale.
“Wish us luck Funk Fam! We are here because of you, so thank you. Now it’s time to give it all we got!” they added on social media.
The finale airs May 14 at 5 p.m. PT on Citytv and Citytv+.
