Kaiju No 8 Episode 4 Review: A new action, Sci-Fi anime is here, and we are absolutely thrilled about it. Let us see how the third episode of this brand-new series went.
Kaiju No. 8 Overview
Kaiju No. 8 stands out as a remarkable manga by the skilled Matsumoto Naoya. Taking the role for the anime adaptation are directors Miya Shigeyuki and Kamiya Tomomi, while scriptwriting duties and series composition fall under the capable hands of Ookouchi Ichirou. Gou Fumiyuki, known for his work on titles like Blue Lock, Mieruko-chan, and Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, assumes the role of music director. Bringing the visuals to life is Production I.G, renowned for their work on series such as Haikyuu!! and Kuroko no Basket.
In terms of the songs, the opening theme “Abyss” is performed by YUNGBLUD, adding a distinctive energy to the series. Meanwhile, the closing theme “Nobody” comes from OneRepublic, perfectly complementing the anime.
Episode 4 of Kaiju No. 8 can also be called the 4th episode of Kaijuu 8-gou (怪獣8号).
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 4 Review: Kikoru Is Up For A Surprise
Today’s episode was really good as we finally got an understandable and digestible conclusion to the whole exam arc. In the beginning, we can see Kikoru gliding past the Kaijus with ease and killing each one of them before anyone can even touch them. On the other hand, Kafka, in spite of breaking his legs, has decided to not quit and convinces Hoshina to let Kafka fight on. But, as Kafka still can not properly stand he uses his best buddy Ichikawa to move around by hopping on his shoulders.
Ichikawa is definitely the best friend we all need in our lives. Not only is he a worrywart who constantly fears Kafka exposing himself as a Kaiju, but is also there to bear Kafka’s burden, quite literally. Thus, even when he could have easily left Kafka on the battlefield to think about his own bearings, he decides to support Kafka, just like he did previously.
But things do not end here, as we quickly come face to face with a cruel situation which completely changes the situation. An anomaly happens and Kikoru is not the predator anymore, but the prey. She, who was having no problems killing Kaijus left and right, finds herself in a dire situation where she is on the brink of death.
This episode finally lifts us from the slump that we felt in the last episode. It also showcases some interesting attributes of these Kaijus and puts forward the concept of evolution within their circle. Plus, there is the mystery behind the parasite that entered Kafka. So, I believe the creature that we meet today and the creature that entered Kafka do have some things in common.
Another thing that I must mention is how good the sound design is of this anime. The fights feel more epical because of the epic music that you hear in the background.
Verdict
This episode was definitely very entertaining and an absolute must-watch. Things are becoming more interesting with every passing episode and I just want to witness the moment Kafka goes all out in front of everyone. Hopefully, in that time, no one will actually want to kill him seeing his monster form.
On top of that, we saw a good and full-of-hype fight that you should not miss. It shows that even when Kafka is the strongest creature ever, he will still be a humble and nice dude with a heart of gold.
