Final Fantasy 14 Launches Mountain Dew Gaming Program Merch for Dawntrail

I DRANK DEW

If you’re in with Mountain Dew, that means you’re real gaming. Trust us.

This means that Final Fantasy 14, which has become one of the most famous critically acclaimed MMORPGs in the world, has achieved its true gamer status, as it has now launched a collaboration with the Mountain Dew Gaming Program, as announced during last night's Live Letter.

In short, it works like every other PepsiCo gamer rewards program. You collect caps, you earn points, you get stuff for it. Just make sure the bottles have the Gaming Program labeling on it, and redeem it on the Mtn Dew Gaming Program Market before the FFXIV program ends mid-July. This time, with a specific video game at the focus, there will also be in-game rewards to collect if you so wish.

The piece of merch most fans will likely want is of a familiar style: a tee that reads “I DRANK DEW” in the style of the real life Battle Challenge tees given to those who complete trials at events such as PAX and Japan’s Fanfest. It’s just an insanely amusing piece of merch.

Beyond clothing swag, there’s actually an interesting variety of goodies that I feel like fans would buy independent of a promotion. For example, there are sets of keycaps and desk mats themed to the new classes, Pictomancer and Viper. The “Marketplace” also offers a variety of figurines, plushies, in-game rewards (including, of course, orange and green pots of dye), and even the Starter Edition of A Realm Reborn.

If for whatever reason, you’ve already been collecting this year’s codes, which according to the Terms of Service began back in February, it's likely you can carry over your points into this promotion. Let us know if it works.

The Marketplace is showing the FFXIV merch on top of the usual Mountain Dew Gaming rewards, which include a $50 Xbox card, a PC speaker clock, bomber jackets, a mini-fridge, a fidget popper in the shape of a controller, and a drone kit…? These hopefully mean that these reward points will carry over after the promo for generic Dew and Xbox stuff. So if you’re a dewlord (dewlass?) like me, hey, there’s always something on the other side.

Dew addicts like yours truly will thrive in these sorts of conditions, though Mountain Dew causes infamously split opinions. That’s okay—it wasn’t meant to be taken on its own anyway, as it was developed as a whiskey mixer.
