17-year-old killed in head-on crash with semi on I-71

WARREN COUNTY, Ohio — A 17-year-old boy was killed in a head-on crash with a semitrailer in southwestern Ohio early Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:40 a.m. on Interstate 71 in Warren County.

OSHP says the semitrailer was traveling south on I-71 while the 17-year-old was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee north in the southbound lanes.

The vehicles hit each other head-on and traveled off the road, with the semi overturning.

The teenager, identified as Chad Samuel Case, of Mason, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the semi was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OSHP is investigating the crash.
