D DAY COMMEMORATIVE TREE PLANTING - 6th June 2024

D DAY COMMEMORATIVE TREE PLANTING - 6th June 2024

Please come and join us at Normandy Green to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-day.

An English Oak will be planted on Normandy Green at 6pm on Thursday 6th June 2024. (planted within a black filigree fence to protect it from vandalism and surrounded by poppies with a commemorative plaque). Given that the surrounding streets are named after the landing beaches—Juno, Utah, Sword, and others—it was appropriate to select Normandy Green for this significant commemoration

The Tree is dedicated to those men and women who lost their lives in the liberation of Europe.

Following the planting and dedication, there will be refreshments at the Memorial Hall, Stamford Street.

A further commemorative event, "The Lighting of the Beacon " will then take place at 9.15pm prompt within the Memorial Garden at Park House, Stamford Street.
