Emory & Henry Previews new University Gear for Fall 2024

While Emory & Henry celebrated its seniors at commencement on May 4, with the last class to have “College” on their diplomas, a week later the campus bookstore and gift shop began to set out new University merchandise for future incoming and returning students.

“We’re ready to get a head start on sharing new merchandise to welcome new first years, transfers and our returning students.” said Jennifer McNew, Retail Buyer for The Merc. “We have slowly been cutting back on inventory with College since the announcement in March 2023 while we are preparing for the transition to University starting August first in its entirety.”

E&H graduating 2024 seniors proudly celebrate being the last graduating class from Emory & Henry College with a special keepsake T-shirt. The College will transition to University by August 1, 2024.

Emory & Henry announced plans to change its status to University after its Carnegie Classification moved to a comprehensive regional university based on its nine graduate and doctoral programs as well as the robust undergraduate programs. The college recently added a “school structure” with a new School of Business, School of Nursing and School of Arts & Sciences that joined the School of Health Sciences. Last year Emory & Henry ranked in the Top 25 of Regional Universities South in the U.S. News and Report Best College Rankings.

New Emory & Henry University material is now available onsite or online at The Merc to welcome new incoming students, current students and fans. The College will transition to University by August 1, 2024. New material will continue to be added throughout the summer. Colin Graham ’26 of Abingdon, Virginia models the new gear.

New students will start coming to campus this summer for Summer Experience Days to meet one another, staff, coaches and advisors. “We know this is a very busy time in the shop with new families coming to gear up with E&H spiritwear.” said McNew.  The E&H Merc will have fully stocked items by fall 2024 in the Emory and Marion campus shops as well as their online shop https://bookstore.ehc.edu/home.

The Emory & Henry brand is now officially licensed and any interested vendor may apply for a licensing fee to carry E&H material in their store or online at https://clc.com/home/get-licensed/

All graduating students in the class of 2024 who attended commencement rehearsal got an Emory & Henry College keepsake T-shirt to commemorate this special occasion of transition and growth for Emory & Henry, founded in 1836 and the oldest private higher education institution in Southwest Virginia.
