David Gilmour’s Luck and Strange saga continues… In late April, the musician, known for his lengthy association with Pink Floyd, announced the Sept. 6 arrival of a new full-length release via Sony Music–the first in nearly a decade. On the heels of the aforementioned announcement, Gilmour has outlined a short series of U.S. tour dates, which will take him to New York and Los Angeles while supporting his impending set.

New U.S. appearances will arrive twofold for each venue, including Oct. 29 and 30 at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, followed by back-to-back concerts on Nov. 4 and 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The aforementioned shows represent Gilmour’s only North American appearances. Despite the hasty nature of the American tour, the artist also scheduled more European gigs, including six nights at Rome’s Circo Massimo, Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 1-3.

Before the onslaught of new concert dates, Gilmour started his touring intent by announcing a series of forthcoming hometown shows at Royal Albert Hall in London on Oct. 9-11 and 14-15. The musician’s website also noted that gigs in England and Italy represent the only European concerts.

Detailing the lineup for tour dates, Gilmour included in his press release, “Guy Pratt, bass and background vocals; Greg Phillinganes, keyboards; Rob Gentry, Keyboards; Adam Betts, drums; Ben Worsley, guitar; Louise Marshall, background vocals; Hattie Webb, background vocals and Charlie Webb, background vocals.”

The forthcoming deliverable was recorded over five months in Brighton and London, with help from producers David and Charlie Andrew, with material composed by Gilmour and Polly Samson, the musician’s co-written and collaborated over the last 30 years. Making sense of the lyrical themes that permeate the impending collection, Samson offered, “It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant.” Gilmour details, “We spent a load of time during and after lockdown talking about and thinking about those kind of things.”
