Cadiz Women’s Golf League

The Cadiz Women’s Golf League held its opening day scramble May 1.

Following the event, members enjoyed a taco buffet and held a business meeting. The league had 28 women participate.

The first-place team, with a score of 68, was the team of Michele Merritt-Abel, Donna Griffin, Pam Schaffer and Sandy Terek. Second-place finishers, with a score of 69, was the team of Kathy Newburn, Brenda Hartley, Linda Tyson and Glenda Sensel.

Various skill prizes were won by the following: Tyson, closest to the pin; Sensel, longest drive, C Flight; Judy Crawshaw, longest drive, B Flight; Yuko Atwell, longest putt; Newburn, closest to the pin, second shot; Angie Sapon, closest to the flamingo; and Marilyn Kenny, longest drive, A Flight.

Officers for the 2024 season were announced and include, Hartley, chairperson; Griffin, co-chairperson; Crawshaw, secretary; and Sensel, treasurer.

Next week, the play of the day will be Subtract Your Putts. Merritt-Abel will serve as hostess.

Highland Springs Ladies Golf

The women of the Highland Springs Ladies League kicked off their season Monday. The play of the day was select drive. Yuko Atwell took the first-place honors. Laura Froehlich was the second-place finisher, followed by Veronica Foldi, third-place finisher.

Other achievements included, Denise Augustine, longest drive, hole No. 6; Tammy Koutsky, closest to the pin, second shot, hole No. 8; and Koutsky, low putts prize.

The nine-hole league is open to all women golfers. Play takes place every Monday from May through September. Tee-off begins at 5 p.m. at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg. To sign up, call the clubhouse on the day of play by 3:30 p.m. at (304) 737-2201.

Town and Country Ladies League

The Town and Country Ladies Golf League kicked off its 2024 season May 2 at Spring Hills Golf Course.

Participants took part in a scramble, with the first-place team consisting of Cathy Jackson, Pat Zorne and Rose Kaczmarek. Two teams tied for second place. The first team included members Signa Findlay, Kathy Antinone, Patti Saccoccia and Marge Serafini. The second team to tie consisted of members Dorothy Baire, Vicki Brozka and Nancy Lellie.

Winners for longest drive on hole No. 1 were Baire, A Flight; Zorne, B Flight; and Kaczmarek, C Flight.

Winners for longest drive on hold No. 5 were Veronica Foldi, A Flight; Zorne, B Flight; and Kaczmarek, C Flight.

Spring Hills Ladies League

On May 2, members of the Spring Hills Ladies Golf League took part in the play of the day, Throw Out Your Two Worst Holes on the front nine. Top finishers included: Dru Fleishour, A Flight; Ruth Reese, B Flight; and Pat Carey, C Flight.

Tammy Koutsky, A Flight, won for chip-in. Long drive finishers were: Yuko Atwell, A Flight; Reese, B Flight; and Carey, C Flight. Koutsky won low putts. Linda Caputo won the 50/50 drawing.
