Joe Alwyn Shares Rare Instagram Photo and Fans Are Already Making Taylor Swift Connections

The "Invisible String" never dies. Joe Alwyn just shared his first Instagram uploads in months — and fans immediately made connections to Taylor Swift.

On Friday, May 10, Alwyn — who posted the images just one day after Swift kicked off the European leg of the Eras Tour in Paris — promoted his upcoming movie, Kinds of Kindness via Instagram with a clip from the film, a movie poster, and a still from a scene with Emma Stone. It was the movie still, which featured him and Stone looking intently at each other while outside of a hotel, that he shared alongside a photo of two cats looking uncannily like the actors.

While fans couldn't get enough of the fact that Alwyn, 33, was sharing the infamous "Joe Catwyn" meme — based on the photo of one feline who looks surprisingly like the Conversations With Friends star — they also instantly related the whole "two cats" photo to Swift (and her own cats).

"JOE JUST POSTED #that cat image of himself with some blondie cat‼️" one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).

Another person used Swift's "Clara Bow" lyrics to accompany Alwyn's upload. "You look like Taylor Swift (cat version) in this light, remarkable!" she quote-tweeted the image.

Another shared a side-by-side image of the Alwyn and Stone-looking cats alongside a pic of Swift and Selena Gomez holding up Swift's Ragdoll, Benjamin Button. (The "Maroon" singer also owns two Scottish Folds, Meredith and Olivia, who look strikingly similar to the felines Alwyn posted.)

"I'm sure Joe misses Ben, it's really bad what this Taylor does to him and they even take selfies to tease him 😞," the person claimed.

"Joe Alwyn just posted this on Instagram to get our attention ... and it worked," wrote a fourth Swiftie.

Alwyn first found out about the "Joe Catwyn" meme back in 2022 when a red carpet reporter from Entertainment Tonight showed him the photo of the cat with his eyes.

"Is it the eyes? I hope it's the eyes," the Harriet actor remarked when discussing why fans thought he looked like the cat.

"I mean, I'll take any of it. It's a cute cat," he quipped. "It's the whiskers. It's the whiskers, right?"

Alwyn is currently promoting his new project, which he stars in alongside Stone, his ex's longtime bestie.

"I love Joe," the Poor Things actress gushed in a May 9 press release about Kinds of Kindness. "We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him because he's one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet."

Swift and Alwyn dated for six years before calling it quits in 2023. While she has written many songs about the actor over the years, many fans believe several of her Tortured Poets Department tracks are about her split from Alwyn, including "So Long London" and "LOML."
