IAPS Clay Pigeon Shooting

18 Lambrook pupils had a fantastic day at the IAPS Clay Pigeon Shooting Championships today, hosted by the West London Shooting School.

Facing a range of challenging targets including driven birds, teal, crossers, decoys, rabbits and simultaneous pairs, all of our young Shots acquitted themselves well, with both our U11 and U13 teams winning Silver medals for their age categories in the IAPS Championships.

We also had some individual awards: a silver medal in the U11 Girls and Silver in our U13 Boys, he deserves special mention for scoring a flawless 10 out of 10 on not one but two stands. Excellent!

IAPS Judo Championships

Of our numerous activities and co-curricular opportunities at Lambrook, one that has been growing in all sections of the school in recent years, has been Judo. Under the guidance of the fantastic coaches, pupils from Year 1 right through to Year 8 have been learning all about the popular Japanese martial art and developing their skills of throwing and defence.

Pupils have been working hard all year and a massive 25 Lambrook pupils from Years 3-8 were selected to represent the School at the IAPS Judo Championships, hosted at Bishopsgate School.

“Witnessing their achievements filled me with immense pride – they have all worked so hard.”Judo Head Coach

With a field of over 80 competing judokas, and in front of large crowds, Lambrook pupils took their turns on the floor, aiming to end each bout with the highest score. Whether by scoring Ippon (an immediate win from a clean throw), or by amassing points through waza-ari (half-point for a 10-second hold) or yuko (a short hold), Lambrook pupils – quite literally – threw themselves into the competition, drawing on the weeks and months of coaching they have enjoyed at school.

The competition was strong and all of the Lambrook entrants gave it their best, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication on the mat, resulting in a collective 6 Gold, 4 Silver, and 10 Bronze medals!
