Secular Desires

I have strong desire for monastic living. I want nothing more than to "die" to the world and embrace only a simple life of solitude and prayer. Still the secular sinner in me also has other desires such as getting tattoos. More tattoos I should say, as I've already indulged in my own will unfortunately. My question is, have I already ruined my chances at living out my calling? Can priests and nuns still serve God and His church despite the life they have lived prior?
