Blessing Offor and Dolly Parton Team Up for New Song

Fresh off the heels of opening for Lauren Daigle during the first leg of her Kaleidoscope Tour, Blessing Offor collaborated with Dolly Parton on his new worship song “Somebody’s Child.”
“We’re all ‘somebody’s child.’ It’s such a simple concept, but I hope it’s the beginning of us all realizing that there’s always a point of empathy, there’s always common ground if we want to find it,” Offor said about the song. “And there’s no better embodiment of finding common ground, finding relatability, than Dolly Parton. I’m so honored and humbled to have her on this project.”
“Y’all, this song came from a place of wanting to make music to bring people together and make music that allows us to humanize each other,” he added. “I’m just really lucky Dolly wanted to sing on it.”
The song emphasizes the fact that we are all loved. The lyrics bring listeners back to a simpler time — childhood — when they would run wild and dream big. It also calls forth memories of first loves and second chances, always coming back to the fact that we’re all “Somebody’s Child.”
The chorus reads:
We’re all somebody’s baby
We’re all somebody’s child
We’re all some kinda crazy
We’re all some kinda wise
We’re all full of amazing
We’re all flirting with lies
We’re all somebody’s heartache
Somebody’s can’t wait, somebody’s why
“I know it’s too easy to say it was a blessing singing with Blessing,” Parton said. “But it was. I love the song ‘Somebody’s Child’ and I am very proud to be a part of it.”
The pair recently collaborated on a music video for the song, something Offor didn’t expect.
“Can I tell you, nobody from the label had Blessing Offer doing a music video with Dolly Parton on their bingo card,” he said. “When we actually had a video day, I kept waking up going ‘I’m going to meet Dolly Parton.’ And then I was like ‘I’m going to meet Dolly Parton in 10 days.’ To ‘I’m meeting Dolly Parton today!”
Offor has had an amazing past couple of years as he has risen to become one of Christian music’s top artists. He performed at this year’s Movieguide® Awards. He has had several big collaborations recently, from a feature on Daigle’s self-titled album to joining Matt Redman and a dozen other artists on the newest rendition of “How Great Thou Art.”

Christian artist Blessing Offor recently opened up about his thoughts on music, his debut album, and the story behind his unique name.
Offor began playing the piano in the third grade, learning classical music. After his piano teacher noticed he was singing along to Beethoven’s “Fur Elise,” she got him into jazz music.
Around the same time, Offor went completely blind due to an accident, but music helped him continue to connect with the world.
“I always had a relationship with music, loved it,” he explained. “The hues and shadings in colors are limitless.”
He continued, “The thing about music is that it has this ability to transcend language and even understanding. You could listen to a K-pop song and have no idea what they’re saying, but something in it speaks to you. You can listen to a song in Spanish or Portuguese and beyond understanding exactly what they’re saying, something about it still emotes to you.”
