The Zoo, 25 years of self-managed celebration at the Factory

Published today at 08:11

For a long time, until Covid, the Zoo described itself with this now rare humor as “a nocturnal pet store”. In 2024, the year of its 25th anniversary, the electronic club on the floor of the Usine claims without laughter to be “a European emblem of alternative culture”, a status linked to its birth in 1999 in the cultural center of the Place des Volunteers. And that’s true. Apart from the new terms inherited from today’s social policies, the objectives pursued by the association have not changed since its opening: at the Zoo, we work, better, we “fight” for a culture that is “accessible, radical, inclusive and self-managed.

Welcome to the “FAZ”

Above all, the Zoo is always full. We know the crowds of night owls gathering every weekend on the banks of the Rhône, the queues to go dancing until late at night, to techno, house, dub music, etc., international and local posters melee. As we also know the difficulties of programmers in racing in the face of the skyrocketing artists’ fees.

The program, which runs until December, offers a series of FAZ, for “Festive Autonomous Zone”, events marking the anniversary agenda. First meeting this Friday May 17 with three Geneva soundsystems, MSKT, Declektik and Ohm-Invasion.
