Choose the right material
The first step is to choose the right material to perform at your audition. If you’re auditioning for a band, make sure to learn some of their songs. If you’re auditioning for a solo gig, choose songs that showcase your strengths as a musician.
…but, also, be prepared to play in a variety of genres.
Many venues, bands or shows hire musicians who can play in a variety of genres. If you’re able to play multiple genres, you’ll be more likely to land gig jobs.
