It’s almost 3 times the size of the next largest city in the US, basically the population of cities 4-10 combined, a queer epicenter with an incredible amount of drag performers and 6 former winners. It only makes sense that there would generally be more from New York than anywhere else most seasons.

They’ve been sequestered already to start filming S17. They just keep an eye on queens who have been rumored to have gotten the call. If they have been inactive since last week and cancel future gigs it’s very likely they’re on.
This. Every single time I look at that rumored cast wiki page halfway through the year, it has never been wrong.

Sapphira is from Houston originally and has been based in Philly for a number of years. She’s performed at Fabrika for a long time and her socials and her RPDR tagline both say she’s a Philly queen. She won the Miss Paradise pageant in Asbury Park last year but I can’t find anything online suggesting she’s an Asbury Park queen.

I have to initially support Hormona Lisa if this turns out to be the real cast. She’s a curvy girl, we’ve had a couple Tennessee queens make it to the finale but no winners yet, and a quick search of her IG shows that she can bring fashion.

Landon said a very good point on the latest episode of Maddy Morphosis's Give It To Me Straight - part of the reason why he feels like kings will never get on the show is because they (the judges/producers/showrunners) are too afraid to judge masculinity.
Yeah, I def agree about that. The first king to compete would have an incredibly high standard to live up to, and it wouldn't be fair. My hope though is that that would open the doors for a wider cultural moment for kings that would force the show to judge them fairly, like how Carmen Carerra was critiqued for "relying on her body" and now the show applauds trans queens like Kerri and Sasha for showing body. Maybe that's too optimistic haha but a girl can dream
