Kofi Kingston Advances In WWE King Of The Ring Tournament

How far will Kofi Kingston go in the WWE King of the Ring tournament?

The 2024 WWE King of the Ring tournament continued as WWE rolled into Macon, Georgia, for a non-televised live event on May 12.

In the show's second match, Kofi Kingston defeated Rey Mysterio with Trouble in Paradise to advance in the tournament. He will meet Gunther in the quarter-finals on tonight's episode of Raw (May 13).

Ilja Dragunov will take on Jey Uso in the other Raw-branded KOTR quarter-final, while the SmackDown side will see Randy Orton clash with Carmelo Hayes and LA Knight tangle with Tama Tonga (both bouts will take place on this Friday's show).

This year's King and Queen of the Ring tournaments have been beset by injury woes. Kingston himself was a substitute, having taken the place of New Day tag partner (and former King of the Ring winner) Xavier Woods, who was not medically cleared to compete as scheduled. Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Zelina Vega, and Asuka were all also pulled from the tournaments due to injury.

The interbrand finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will take place at the namesake premium live event in Saudi Arabia on May 25.
